Subject: HP nx6110 "freezes" while booting

I'm experiencing a wierd problem with a hp laptop model nx6110 with
intel 910gml chipset.

The system works fine except a wierd thing with the loader. While the
system is loading the kernel it stops, and won't continue before I touch
my keyboard. This has never happened to me before, and it feels like a
really wierd thing.

I'm not exactly sure what stage of the boot I'm talking about, but it's
the point where -, |, / and \ characters keep spinning. They spin for
maybe three steps and then it stops waiting for any key.

Maybe a possible clue is that fdisk keeps nagging about the geometry,
but I'm not aware of anything I could do about it.

Anyone else experienced this before or does anyone have any suggestions
on how to get rid of this?
