2.0.5 is a bit out of date in reference to the handbook. It
is likly that you added/removed something thats not in 2.0.5.

This is what use to log my make:

	make |& tee make.err

This will direct output to screen as well as to a 'make.err' file
in the current directory.

Works for me.
