ouch. 

Anyway, I like the idea of doing whatever it takes to make our performance
increase... but not at the expense of having a stable OS. Just about
everything in the "assinine statements" above would leave us with a very
unstable OS. I couldn't care less (and a lot of people would surely agree)
whether or not we have the "standard" or "traditional" implementation of
anything as long as to the user things are basically the same, and things
perform better.
