Spammer's send through such highly automated methods that in nearly all cases they are not doing anything that requires specific manual effort. Are there other significant mailing lists anywhere today besides the FreeBSD world that don't require subscription? I have a great deal of respect for the FreeBSD community but I find it unbelievable that a subscription isn't required. It's a trivial amount of effort for any interested ones to subscribe. If they have the knowledge and desire to attempt to use FreeBSD they will certainly have the knowledge and desire to subscribe. - John J.
