Heh. Inodes are cheap :)

Seriously, lockless Maildir delivery makes multiple simultaneous deliveries to
the same mailbox possible (true, serialization/locking is still involved but
at the kernel level which one would hope to be more efficient than flock() and
friends).

Also, in the face of crashes, fsck does the cleanup necessary, with very
little chance of mailbox corruption at all.
