The /etc/defaults/pccard.conf is missing an entry for the:
Intel AnyPoint(TM) Wireless II Network PC Card

The card works fine once the entry is added as a wi0 entry, but this 
should be supported by default.  It is a standard 802.11b card.

Insert card into laptop :-)
