Subject: Xircom cardbus CBEM56G-100 as a modem?
Message-ID: <3AA3C9A4.7E831C33@rain.fr>

Hello,

I realize I'm on the cutting edge here, but I thought I'd ask anyway :-)

I have Toshiba Tecra8100 with a Xircom Cardbus Ethernet 10/100 + Modem 56 (CBEM56G-100)
card, running FreeBSD 5-CURRENT with a NEWCARD kernel.

I believe that the ethernet part works (device dc0 - I haven't actually gotten to try
it out yet because Xircom sent me the card with two modem cables and no ethernet cable).

I'd like to know if anyone has gotten the modem part of this card working yet. I
think that the system sees the card, and the card is used under COM5 in windows,
so I believe that it would also be used as sio4 under FreeBSD. I'm pretty sure that
I'm missing something in /boot/device.hints for sio4 (there is nothing for sio4 in
this file).

If I do need to add something to device.hints, what is it that I should be adding?
Any hints would be much appreciated.

Here is the output of a dmesg:
