I was able to work the FSL in a graphics window, although you might want to try it with a serial console. Does this machine have multiple CPU's? IIRC, I had took all the CPU's out except one and tried it from there. I am looking for some docs that I had on this issue. We still have our Compaq Alpha CD's laying around and I am sifting through docs to find where I found the recovery procedures. Unfortunately, this is 2100A RM machine, which doesn't have separated I/O board - it's integrated with the EISA/PCI backplane. Indeed, there is a switch called FSL Enable, but when I start the system with this switch set, there is no difference. Do you remember if you'd be able to work in FSL on the graphical console, or you had to attach a terminal?
