Subject: -CURRENT OK; -STBALE (4.3-BETA) not for D-Link DFE-650?

Sorry; I can't get to the FreeBSD Web site to check the archives;
I'm able to ping freefall & traceroute to it, but the Web server
doesn't appear to be responding.

Anyway, I've written previously about the laptop I've recently
acquired and what I've been doing with it.

Well, this morning, I upgraded the "S1" slice to 4.3-BETA as of this
morning (CVSup complete at 06:37 hrs. PST today), and flushed with
that apparent success, I upgraded the "C" slice to -CURRENT (same
CVS repository, different tag).

I normally use a Cisco/Aironet 340 card for network access, so I hadn't
noticed this until I went someplace where the only network access was wired.

But I'm finding that an attempt to use a D-Link DFE-650 in recent -STABLE
(aka 4.3-BETA) -- both today's and yesterday's -- fails with the
message:

Mar 10 15:12:30 pccardd[121]: Card "D-Link"("DFE-650") [Fast Ethernet]
[Rev. D1] matched "D-Link" ("DFE-650") [(null)] [(null)]
Mar 10 15:12:35 pccardd[121]: driver allocation failed for D-Link(DFE-650): Dev
ice not configured

while in today's -CURRENT, it works fine:

The kernel configs are as similar as I can make them; here's a diff of a
normal (non-verbose) dmesg output:

And in both cases, I'm using an /etc/pccard.conf that reads:

	insert	/etc/pccard_ether $device start
	remove	/usr/bin/logger -t pccard:$device -s Interface $device removed
	remove	/etc/pccard_ether $device stop

(The "pccard_hook" is a script I'm cooking up to help switch among
differing environments; it obviously should have no effect on the ed
DFE-650 device, since it isn't being invoked.)

And here's what vmstat -i says in today's -STABLE (failure case):

interrupt total rate

Clues (including redirection to the -stable list or requests for
additional information) cheerfully accepted.

Thanks,
