No, that's a valid example.  /dev/rda0a is a parition on a SCSI disk.
It's not a very good example and the whole answer is less then helpful
on modern systems but it is correct in context.  (This is a prime example
of the sort of question Michael Lucas wants to take out back and shoot.)
If someone were updating it, using /dev/ad0s1a would probably be least
confusing.
