Thanx, that fixed the problem!  As I stated b4, I can do a 2.1.0-RELEASE
install on exact same hardware without this problem.

So:

 1: this is the expected behavior now and the possible need for the "NFS slow"
    option should be well documented.

or

 2: something needs fixing.
