Yes, DISPLAY is :0.0 and the text that comes out is:

Running AOL Instant Messenger (TM) version 1.1.19 for Java built 03/24/98,
freeMem 917128 totalMem 1048568, x86, FreeBSD, 2.2.7-RELEASE, Sun
Microsystems Inc., port by java-port@FreeBSD.org, 1.1.6, 45.3, Sun Oct 04
20:12:55 EDT 1998

and after the text displays, 2 windows flash on the screen for at most a
quarter of a second, and then disappear, but when I look to see what
processes are running, java_X is running, so I know it is there somewhere.
