bad news.

i cvsupped a snapshot of the -stable tree this morning around (8/17/01
6:30am PDT) and built the kernel and world and now my Viao FX220 hangs
just after trying to mount the root fs. it loads everything and then shows
the mount, and then just hangs. if i insert a pcmcia card, it displays the
rest of the boot sequence, and then shows the pcic events, but doesn't
actually respond to anything else:

(me inserting and removing the card)
pcic0: Event Mask 0x4
pcic0: Event Mask 0x6
pcic0: Event Mask 0x2
etc.

after catching up on today's mail, i did another cvsup (8/18/01 2:35am PST),
and applied the no-hang.diff.4 patch and it does the same thing.

i've tried the kernel config that i was using with last week's source,
and i've tried a GENERIC one. i've tried it with hw.pci.ignore_pcibios=1
and with that left unset. i've tried it with PnP OS turned on and turned
off in the BIOS. same thing every time.
