The following reply was made to PR misc/44016; it has been noted by GNATS. From: Jed Clear <clear@alum.mit.edu> To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: misc/44016: 4.7R installworld fails with /usr/obj readonly Date: Mon, 14 Oct 2002 20:12:43 -0400 The two clocks can't be any more in sync. I run ntpd on both. The firewall acts as NTP server to the fileserver. The firewall is synched to an Internet stratum 2 source (not that that matters as we're talking relative time between the two boxes). Both have /etc/wall_cmos_clock and run adjkerntz -i in /etc/rc. The timezones on both remain at EDT and the firewall keeps the right timezone when shutdown to single user. Now theoretically the clocks could drift after the firewall had been shutdown to single user for the installworld, but that would be a hell of a drift rate. I suppose if the 4.5 adjkerntz couldn't work with the new 4.7 kernel, that could be the problem. But then I'd expect a lot more to try to build, or it to fail earlier. If I'm missing something with time, let me know, otherwise please reopen the bug. -Jed To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-bugs" in the body of the message
