FreeBSD dp166.ikrask.dk 4.7-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.7-RELEASE #0: Wed Oct 9 15:08:34 GMT 2002 root@builder.freebsdmall.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386

>Description:
When i boot the machine and log in as root, i write "kldload /modules/snd.ko"
Wether this hangs the machine or not, the machine goes "pcm0:<Creative EMU10K1> port 0xd00-0xd01f irq 14 at device 13.0 on pci2"
If the machine hangs NumLock, CapsLock and ScrollLock works in terms of keyboard LED's.. apart from that everything is dead.. you cant telnet into the machine either..so its apparently not the console but the machine as such.
If it doesnt hang, sound works.

The last line is the result of kldload snd when it doesnt hang.. when it hangs the message doesnt make it to the harddrive..

The mainboard is an Asus P4B series
>How-To-Repeat:
Reboot or reset the machine several times.. the problem occurs approx. 50% of the time. There are no indications of problems when running Win98. I've had and used the card and this particular configuartion of the machine for approx. one year. It is used several hours every day.
The problem occurs (tested) rebooting from 98 to FreeBSD and rebooting from FreeBSD to FreeBSD. The problem does not disappear when the reset switch is used. ie its apparently not a case of "Card in unknown state due to lack of bus-reset". I can not w. 100% certainty say anything about the behavior when the machine is powered on and booted. i simply cant remember.. sorry :-)
