Run moused and tell it explicitely you have a glidepoint. In rc.conf:

moused_enable="YES"
moused_type="glidepoint"
moused_flags="-3" (obviously this is optional, but I think it's helpful)

You will get a complaint at startup, but ignore it. Tapping will work.
