people who want to do Java development (including me, since that's my job)
should choose their platforms carefully, recognizing that free software is
at the mercy of other people's free time.

I'm fortunate in that I don't need any features from 1.4, nor do I really
need HotSpot at the moment. even if I did, I understand that Bill knows
what he's doing, and I'd cool my heels using 1.4 on a linux or solaris box
if I really needed to.

things seem be progressing just fine, and I don't think badgering the
developer is really the solution here.
