I can hit max speeds of 100wpm on a good day. If I happen to cross thoughts at the wrong moment, whole words get substituted pretty quickly. I (and I imagine most people) merely type whatever word I happen to be thinking at the moment, which hopefully is related to the current subject-matter... Usually it's just a case of my thoughts skipping a few words. 180wpm on a manual typewriter is pretty damn fast.
