There's an error in the bootparamd manpage that will have you tearing
your hair out; the paths returned need to be in the form 
'root=host:/path', not 'root=/path'.  I have a patch for this to commit
as soon as I can get a connection to freefall.

It would be good perhaps to add some more debugging to bootparamd,
but the code is _awful_.
