Lyndon,
If you pick up the Sparc Arch. Manual (Version 8 or any other version)
make sure you also grab a CPU manual since you need both books to get a
complete picture of how the CPU handles things. I don't think Sun has any
of the 4m CPU manuals online, but the last time I checked Fujitsu did have
the CPU manual for their TurboSPARC online. If you can't find it online
I've got a copy of the pdf around here somewhere that I can put up for ftp.
