Ugh, this is too wordy and confusing to native English speakers. :)

I would reword it to say this:

FreeBSD-CURRENT is useful for 3 main groups:

> Here "primary interest groups" means:

> 1) primary groups of interested people; that is, three groups of
> interested people, each having specific (technical) interest(s);
> 
> 2) groups of primary importance/interest, therefore the expression
> would mean "main groups";
>

It means 2) as best as I can read it.
