That must be a nasty smell :-).  I had a very liberal attitude about
NT, until finding that it is putting one of our projects in jeopardy,
because if it's lousy perf (under load.)  Maybe with some brains and
motivation behind it (like DEC), they'll make it work (as opposed to
playing with itself :-).)

Sorry for the pseudo-flame, but I am getting sicker and angry-er every
day dealing with NT's (4.0) performance (a major component of quality
IMO) problems.
