Thanks Terry!  I won't have time to look at this today but I will
definitely look at this early next week.  It seems likely that I can
commit most of this stuff.  The NAMEI changes are, I think, the right way
to go and (without actually reading the diff) shouldn't take us too much
farther away from the 4.4BSD line.
