This problem exists for FreeBSD 5.2 Release also. While booting with
verbose output (boot -dHv), there are no error messages. Booting
 process simply halts at:

 mounting root from ufs: /dev/md0

 Workaround for the problem:
 1. Exit boot loader menu
 2. disable-module md
 3. boot
