I'll second that. If you want a machine that's guaranteed to run FreeBSD SMP
well, go with BSDi. If it doesn't work, it's their problem and they'll work
with you to fix it.

If you'd rather go with one of the bigger vendors check out the Dell 1550.

You should check with BSDi. This server could probably be brought up to 
your needs.
