In my case, I think .zshrc (I settled on zsh over a decade ago). I set=20=
=20
all=20of the above, restarted my X session, and that seems to have=20=20
worked.=20I had LANG set by way of /etc/login.conf, so I'm guessing that=20=
=20
mate-terminal=20responds either to LC_ALL or MM_CHARSET. I hadn't seen=20=
=20
MM_CHARSET=20before, but I might well have had LC_ALL set in the=20=20
previous=20installations.

Sorry, it didn't even occur to me that what I was saying was=20=20
ambiguous.=20Ctrl+F is for find in page. I'm looking for the web search=20=
=20
box.
