Look to the future. The people that are buying PC's today are fairly green
when it comes to computers. Schools are now teaching computer basics and
beyond whereas 10 or 15 years ago the only thing many schools had to offer
had to do with punchcards. As the current generation moves through these
classes they're going to learn very quickly that crashes are not something
that's normal for computers to do and either M$ will have to fix their OS's
or more and more people will migrate to something else. FreeBSD is one very
viable option, as is linux. I'm not talking about games, either. Office
suites, videoconferencing, web and java are also important factors. The
future is just around the corner, it's not something any of us want to lose
sight of.

I'm not saying develop something new, just polish up the internals of what
we have now.
