"apacehctl start" does indeed work -- so it looks as though it's only SSL
that's broken here (ie. "apachectl startssl" causes seg fault).

I have mod_perl and  mod_php4 installed but disabling them has no effect
-- apache still seg faults when starting with "startssl".
