What happens when the contents of these filesystems outgrow these limits? You can't grow (or shrink) a ufs filesystem. The precise name of /local is immaterial. For example, you might want /mnt/local/ /mnt/nfs /mnt/smb /mnt/ext2fs and so on, depending on your precise requirements.
