  My NOTE-PC has ESS 1868 sound card.  It also has same problem :-<

  If I control Master volume via xmix program(from packages), the
sound comes out from both channel!!! But I think volume
control(/dev/mix?) of pcm0 for ESS1868 was broken.

  How about your NOTE-PC??
