In principle, I think that cleanups like this are a Good Thing (TM).  I
haven't looked real closely at your patch due to the small deluge of
5.0-DP1 email that hit my inbox this morning.  As long as you don't
flame the original author too badly (:-)), I don't think there'll be a
problem.
