I had never run into team before. It looks interesting.

Have you any suggestions for reasonable values for 'team' to use for
dd?

I assume the syntax would be:
dd bs=NNNNN if=/dev/adNsN | team NNNNN X | dd bs=NNNNN of=/dev/adNsN
