It's very superficial in some respects, and it strays into inaccuracy by
way of a lack of precision, but it's better written than a lot of
supposedly "professional journalism" I've seen and might be worth a read
by someone new to FreeBSD and uncertain of how to resolve the immediate
differences, I think. One of the comments at OSNews -- the one that
pointed out all the "inaccuracies" -- was in places a bit more pedantic
than informative, but it also provided some useful elaborations.

I think the format of this new article may have been a bit of a clone of
articles by Dru Lavigne at ONLamp, the author of O'Reilly's "BSD Hacks"
book. They might be more useful, all things considered. I seem to
recall seeing links to Dru Lavigne's articles in the comments at OSNews.

Umm . . .

Here they are:
  http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/bsd/2004/11/11/FreeBSD_Basics.html
  http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/bsd/2005/01/13/FreeBSD_Basics.html

Also, the URL of the OSNews item (since it's not at the top of the list
any longer):
  http://www.osnews.com/comment.php?news_id=17998
