I noticed that -mcpu=ev67 isn't supported on gcc version from FreeBSD 4.8 and also the kernel does not report the model of the alpha CPU: COMPAQ Professional Workstation XP1000, 666MHz 8192 byte page size, 1 processor. CPU: major=11 minor=9 extensions=0x307<BWX,FIX,CIX,MVI,PRECISE> OSF PAL rev: 0x1001600020153 is it normal? with FreeBSD-5.0 the CPU was identifyed as EV67 thanks Rick
